Furthermore, there will be a 90 days limit as to the ability to rent out an entire property while absent. This will greatly affect those who frequently travel for an extended periods of time, multiple times per year. however, let’s note that there won’t be a limit on the number of days as long as the homeowner is present in the property.
Moreover, only primary residences qualify for a license. Secondary residences cannot be rented via airbnb or similar platforms.
In addition, the current zoning in DC prohibits short term rental in residential zoning. The district plans to enforce the current zoning Therefore, licenses might not be issued in those zones.
